The South Shore District Soccer Association is looking to elect its Executive Board.  The Executive Board positions are outlined below.
 
A Special General Meeting will be held Monday, February 4th at 7:30 p.m. at the HB Studios Sports Centre in the meeting room.
 
Anyone interested in these positions is invited to attend this meeting.  All members (coaches, parents, players) are invited to attend.
 
We are currently looking to fill the following positions:
  1. President
  2. Secretary
  3. Treasurer
 
President
Two Year Term – September 2018 to September 2020
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the District is managed in accordance with its by-laws, policies, mission statement and guiding principals
  • Ensure that all decisions and/or directives of the Board are implemented in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the operations are managed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure that all positions required to run the District are staffed
  • Responsible for paid staff
  • Appoint committees as required to carry out the business of the District
  • Work with the board to develop a strategic roadmap for the District
  • Preside at all meetings of the District, and, establish the agenda for all District meetings
  • Present an annual report of the state of the District at the Annual General Meeting
  • Act as the spokesperson for the District
  • Have signature authority, in addition to the Treasurer for the Club
 
Vice President
Two Year Term – September 2019 to September 2021
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as back-up to President in situations when conflicts of interest arise or President temporarily unavailable
  • Chair the Strategic Planning committee
  • Report to board on strategic plan
  • Have signature authority, in addition to the President and Treasurer for the Club
 
Treasurer
Two Year Term – September 2019 to September 2021
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement and/or maintain the bookkeeping system and accounting processes required to provide a detailed set of records on income and expenditure of the District
  • Be responsible for all day-to-day bookkeeping and handling of accounts payable and account receivable issues
  • Have custody of all funds, securities and financial records of the District
  • Establish an annual operating budget to present to the board for approval
  • Publish Quarterly and year-end financial statement
  • Submit an annual report of finances to the Board
  • File year end financial reports to Soccer NS on an annual basis
  • Pay bills that are within the approved limits of the District annual operating budget
  • Maintain a bank account in the District Name
  • Be one of the three persons, together with the President, Vice President authorized to sign cheques
 
Secretary
Two Year Term – September 2018 to September 2020
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Record minutes of all District meetings (including meeting time, date, location, attendance, board vote results and highlights of key discussions)
  • Distribute meeting minutes within one week of each District meeting
  • Send meeting reminder emails along with district correspondence announcements.
  • Be the custodian of all records of the district (i.e. minutes, insurance documents bylaws, etc.)
  • Collect and distribute accordingly all correspondence received by the district
  • Plan, schedule, secure location and notify the board of upcoming and scheduled meetings.
